Conquering Little Si (in the Drizzle!)

Our weekend in Seattle ended with rain (surprise!) and it was breaking my heart to leave without getting some time up on the beautiful Cascades hiking before we had to return home. I really wanted to do Mt Si, but the extra rain made me settle for Little Si instead. Even with the rain, the first parking lot was completely full. We actually arrived just as the last spot was taken. The overflow had plenty of spaces and we set out, bundled against the rain. The trail was great, even in the wet and climbed steadily among the trees.

The rain paused enough at the top to allow a few pictures and even a little peak of the valley down below. The view from the top, while partially obscured by the lingering mist, was still impressive. We could see out over the Snoqualmie Valley, and the swirling clouds gave the whole scene a dramatic feel.

Of course, the trip down was a breeze and we beat the rain back to our car. It was a little under 4 miles and worked well for our soggy morning. We will return for Si and the even more impressive views of the valley at a future date.
